Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat (SVNIT) has announced recruitment for 5 Professor vacancies under advertisement number Estt. /2026/ Prof/1600. Eligible candidates applying for the Professor post must possess a Ph.D. in relevant discipline with first class in preceding degrees, with appointments made on probation for a period of one year at Pay Level 14A. Qualification and Experience

Professor	Ph.D. in the relevant discipline and first class in the preceding degrees (Bachelor’s Degree onwards). Where first class is not mentioned, at least 6.5 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) or 60% marks in aggregate is required.	As per Schedule ‘E’ of the NIT Statute published on 24th July 2017. Experience at the level of Associate Professor with AGP ₹9000 and/or ₹9500 (Pay Level 13A1 and/or 13A2). More than six months of experience in a regular position in CFTI / Institute of national importance / state government funded institute or university / centrally funded lab and organization under CSIR, DRDO, DAE, DBT, DST, DSIR, ISRO, MOCIT, MOEF, MNRE, MOP, MOWR, NPL etc., educational institutions ranked by NIRF up to 100 in overall/Universities/Engineering for any two years, foreign institutions/universities in QS/THE world ranking up to 500, or industrial experience in PSU, autonomous organization, or private industry with turnover of more than ₹500 crores.

All degrees must be from an Institute/University recognized by UGC, AICTE, AIU, or GOI. Foreign degrees are accepted if from national universities or institutions ranked up to 500 in QS/THE World Rankings. For candidates with a Ph.D. from SVNIT Surat, a three-year inbreeding gap between Ph.D. notification and the application deadline applies (not applicable to existing SVNIT faculty).

salary

The post carries Pay Level 14A of the Pay Matrix, with basic pay ranging from ₹159,100 to ₹220,200 per month along with admissible allowances. All appointments are made on probation for a period of one year, wherever applicable. On successful completion and confirmation, appointees hold office until the age of superannuation specified by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

Additional benefits include Cumulative Professional Development Allowance (CPDA), provision for industrial consultancy, children's tuition fee reimbursement up to Class XII, LTC, medical facilities for self and dependent family, campus accommodation with nominal licence fee or HRA, coverage under the National Pension System (NPS-2004), and reimbursement of telephone and data charges.

SVNIT Professor Age Limit

Fresh appointment beyond the age of 60 years is discouraged except for candidates with exceptional research and ongoing or approved externally funded research projects. The date for determining eligibility in all respects, including the preferred age limit, qualification, and experience, is the closing date of the online application (02.12.2026).

2. Complete the online application form and fill in the credit point summary sheet and details sheet.
3. Upload a recent colour passport-size photograph (taken within 3 months, without cap, scarf, or sunglasses) along with relevant certificates.
4. Pay the non-refundable processing fee of ₹1000 online, if applicable.
5. Submit the online form and download the completed application form along with the credit point summary sheet.
6. Number and sign all pages of the printed application form, and write the total number of pages on the first page.
7. Enclose self-attested copies of all testimonials, educational certificates, experience certificates, category proof, and fee payment proof.
8. Place the documents in an envelope superscribed as "Advertisement No. Estt. /2026/ Prof/1600, Dated 16.10.2026, Department of [Name of Department], Application ID no. [ID]".
